Pavett started his football education as a junior with Ipswich Town and spent the majority of his youth career with Colchester United where he featured for both their youth and reserves teams.[2]
During the later stages of Pavett's youth career at Colchester the centre forward spent time on work experience. On February 5, 2010, Pavett was signed by Chelmsford City Head Coach Glenn Pennyfather. Pavett made his debut as a substitute in the 2–2 draw with Eastleigh [3] this appearance was followed by further sub outings against Lewes and Bishop's Stortford. On the completion of his month at Chelmsford, Pavett then linked up with Bishop's Stortford in a similar deal.[4] Much like his month at Chelmsford, Pavett made only three appearances for Bishop's Stortford. His debut was against a start against Newport County in a 1–0 loss. His other appearances were against Dover Athletic and Bromley.
Pavett was released by Colchester at the end of the 2009/10 season and soon joined Conference National outfit Histon in 1 August 2010, on a short term deal.
He made his debut as an 85th substitute against AFC Wimbledon, a 2–0 loss with two injury time goals by Danny Kedwell and Ricky Wellard.[5] Pavett only made two more appearances in the Conference National for Histon, the 2–2 draw at Newport County and the 1–1 draw with Eastbourne Borough.
Pavett played three matches for Histon, and he was released on 1 October.
Upon his release from Histon, Jordan Pavett joined Isthmian League Division One North outfit Redbridge. However, due to several postponments cause by the adverse weather throughout the UK, Pavett did not make a single appearance for The Motormen.[6]
Pavett signed a professional contract with Town on 19 January 2011 and was officially registered on 31 January.[7][8] Pavett won his contract at Swindon through a Samsung and FourFourTwo competition in which 3,000 fellow amateurs entered.
